My role as an Environment artist on The Old Republic is to build worlds. For this area, this consisted of: worldbuilding, set-dressing, lighting, small VFX placement, level polish and optimization.
I built and setdressed the first hallway of the abandoned listening post. Because there is no combat in this area, we were more free to lower the lights and guide the player with much smaller focal points.
I was also responsible for assembling the exterior vista and ship shell. The satellite array and ship was assembled in game and then imported in 3ds Max to add final touches and apply destruction. I had a lot of fun building the ship exterior because other than matching a sillouette and key focal points, I had free reign to add greebles and interesting shapes.
All assets were created by other artists and many were kitbashed into new assets from the pre-existing ones. Special thank you to, Carrie Meade, Jason Moulton, Cat Farinas, Colin Wagner and the rest of the SWTOR team.
